Birth Planning & Postnatal Care

A good birth plan is not a script to be rigidly followed — it's a shared understanding of your preferences, your priorities, and how decisions will be made, including when the unexpected happens.

Before Birth planning discussions begin well ahead of your due date
During Dr Krones is present at the birth, not a on-call roster
After Postnatal care continues through six weeks and beyond

Birth planning and postnatal care are central parts of private obstetric care. The goal is to help you feel prepared, informed and supported — in the lead-up to birth, on the day itself, and through the weeks of recovery and adjustment that follow.

What birth planning involves

Conversations that start well before labour, so nothing important is left to chance on the day.

Birth preferencesDiscussion of your preferences for vaginal birth, caesarean section and pain relief options
Labour preparationRealistic information about labour — including signs it has started and when to come to hospital
Understanding interventionsClear information about the indications for and benefits of any potential interventions
Support peopleDiscussing who you would like with you at the birth
Contingency planningPlans for unexpected scenarios, so decisions in the moment are not made under pressure alone
Early feedingFeeding preferences discussed and supported with the help of our Midwife Lucy
